:: Etienne De Crécy @ GDL ::

For 3 years, 2004 to 2006, Etienne de Crécy has toured the world with his live project, Super Discount 2 which also featured Alex Gopher and Julien Delfaud. In total, the trio has played over hundred gigs, from Europe to Australia and South America. _Be it in the best clubs (Lux in Lisboa, The Loft in Barcelona, The End in London, Indigo in Istanbul) or in the biggest festivals (Bennicassim, Creamfields Andalucia, Rock Werchter, I Love Techno, Roskilde, Melt etc…), this tour ended in breathtaking finale at the We Love Trax party in Paris in November 2008.
Strong of this experience, which allowed the renowned dj and producer to play in front of numerous and varied crowds (from techno to rock fans), Etienne de Crécy will be launching his first conceptual solo live. A real electronic live, played only on machines and without laptops. A full out conceptual live whose visual and scenical structure was designed by parisian collectvie Exyzt.
This concept, going under the monicker of Etienne de Crécy Live, dips in the impressive discography of the producer, from classics of the likes of « Le Patron est devenu fou » and « Prix Choc » (from groundbreaking french touch album « Super Discount ») ; « Am I wrong » and « Scratched » (from « Tempovision ») ; to « Overnet » and « Fast Track (from the critically acclaimed « Superdiscount 2 »). Etienne also showcases new tracks (« Fuck » and « Punk » from the « Commercial EP 1 » and « Commercial EP 2 » EPs) and never heard before floor fillers (« Start the Panic » and « Here we Go ») in the potentiel set list. Potential, as given the ambiance, the venue, or the times of the set, Etienne de Crécy can pull out any track from his repertoire, live.
Without a laptop and armed only with vintage machines ( MPC1000 sampler, 2 TB303’s, 2 Bass Station Synthesizers and A station, a multi FX and a mixer) Etienne is playing a real electronic live, played only on machines : on the go loops and programming, live effects and filters…)
Each track is rebuilt with each performance, with a modern twist. Because Etienne is a renowned dj playing in clubs throughout the world, inspired by today’s sounds, his live follows this inspiration.
If Etienne’s new live is retrospective with the large choice of tracks played, it will be resolutely be turned towards the future with the sounds, the technology used, and especially with the scenography used.
This live show will take on it’s full dimension with the scenical structure imagined and conceived by François Wunschel and Pier Schneirder, founders of the parisian collective Exyzt.
For Etienne, the 2 artists have realised a massive cubic structure composed of mettalic tubes and video. This 6 meter high and 6 meter wide geometrical device serves as a support for original video projections, synchronized with De Crécy’s live show.
The visual esthetics of the video projections is reminiscent of the first computers from the 70’s, green and orange monochromes, 8 bit technology. These simplistic yet hypnotizing visuals follow with perfection the musical poems emanating from the machines. The interaction between architecture, video and sound is awe_inspiring, blurring boundaries between reality and virtuality
